Pivovar Cvikov

The history of the brewery in Cvikov dates back to the year 1560 when 72 local people received a privilege from land administration, and started with unique production of wheat beer and malt. Cvikov is based in Northern Bohemia which is characterised by beautiful mountains and vast forests. This all gives the Cvikov beers an amazingly full taste of typical Czech nature.

The new era started in 2013, with a grand re-opening in 2014. Nowadays production and product formulas are using the highest quality ingredients with innovative technologies. The first batch of the beers was the production of the bottom-fermented light lager “klíč”.

The premium non-pasteurized light lager, brewed traditional double mashing process. Lower fermentation at low temperature takes place in an open vessel, followed by maturing in lager cellars lasting at least 40 days.

The “Key” is characterised by higher bitterness and fullness, which gives it a balanced malt-bitter taste in this combination. The recipe is created by preserving the “old Bohemian” taste of beer, which is characterised by a golden to amber colour and a higher fullness of malt-flavour.

The filtered, unpasteurised light lager, Hvozd’s eleven, is characterised by a golden colour that is highlighted by sparkling clarity. Fine filtration reduces the yeast taste of this beer. Thanks to the fact that Hvozd is not pasteurized but refreshing taste remains.

A non-pasteurized light lager ten called “Luž”, which is brewed in the same style as our historically twelve lager Key. For this product, we are using the famous Pilsen type of malt and Žatec hops. In comparison with the twelve, the fermentation is faster and maturation lasts one month.

Our 8° glassmaker is a fairly brewed beer on one mash, and historically, it has been drunk in the region for at least two centuries, and it inherently belonged to every pub production. During the creation of the recipe of eight, we cared and emphasis on its lightness and is intended primarily to extinguish thirst.

Our 13° semi-dark lager called “festive” is brewed from three types of malt – Pilsen, Bavarian and caramel, with classic double mash technology. Each of the malts gives the beer something different. The Pilsner malt forms a basic flavour, the Bavarian increases the perceived body of the beer and the caramel malt is conveying the pleasantly bitter taste of a multi-stage semi-dark beer.

Cvikov beer restaurant

Civkov has its own restaurant located in an old Malthouse, which allows showcasing the whole portfolio. With modern design and with the original Czech cuisine it is an ideal place for experiencing the Cvikov Brand for the first time.

The customers could choose beer treats as game meat, rabbit meat etc. Our traditional Czech dishes are prepared according to local recipes, and the range of our cuisine naturally varies from season to season.
